ROI % = Total profit ÷ Total invested × 100
A simple annualized approximation divides ROI by the hold period: Annualized ≈ ROI ÷ years. For a precise time-weighted figure use IRR in the investment calculator.
Worked example
You invest $50,000 and, over five years, earn $40,000 in combined distributions and sale profit. ROI = $40,000 ÷ $50,000 × 100 = 80%, or roughly 16% per year as a simple approximation, a 1.80× equity multiple.
